Wavefront LASIK Eye Surgery

LASIK is a vision correction surgery that has been around for a few years. It involves a laser not a knife and is a very quick eye surgery. More and more people are opting for this relatively painless, quick eye surgery instead of eyeglasses and contacts. LASIK surgery works for near-sightedness, far-sightedness and astigmatism.

LASIK surgery technology has advanced and changes have occurred with equipment, technology that give those with vision problems many decisions. The most common eye surgery technologies are LASIK, IntraLase, Custom Lasik which is also known as Lasik Wavefront.

Wavefront Lasik is the newest eye surgery technology. This surgery uses a laser which is customized with 3D or three dimensional measurements of each eye’s processing capabilities. This guides the laser in reshaping the cornea. The cornea is the clear material that covers the eye.

Wavefront Lasik produces very precise results and optimal results since it is very customized to each individual. Not everyone can benefit from this new eye surgery though. The thickness of your cornea’s are measured and not everyone can undergo this surgery. It is best used for those with mild to moderate vision problems. This eye surgery can work on near-sightedness, far-sightedness and astigmatism.

Wavefront Lasik is so cutting edge because it uses a laser to measure how your eye focuses on light rays. A map of this is recorded and then used to customize the laser incisions. This type of surgery not only corrects vision but depth perception, visual acuity, contrast sensitivity and fine details. Eyeglasses are great, but LASIK is incredible. Vision can be improved to at least 20/20 and even better. It also enhances night vision, quality and visual sensitivity unlike eyeglasses or contacts. Really, LASIK just brings your eyes back to what they were originally.

Wavefront Lasik is just one type of eye surgery. It is the most customized for each person’s eyes though. If you find that you do not qualify for Wavefront technology, other eye surgery types are still available.
